Zeitz MOCAA tour – cancelled
February 7 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 pm
R600Let me know if you would like me to re-arrange in a few months time.
Sala is the focus of this highlights tour. This beautiful, new and small exhibition has works from Zeitz MOCAA’s permanent collection. It was curated by ZMOCAA’s head curator, Storm van Rensburg, in collaboration with Zeitz MOCAA & University of the Western Cape (UWC) Museum Fellows.
Sala is a word common among many Nguni languages in Southern Africa. It is part of a call and response between people parting ways. The 17 artists in the exhibition demonstrate the shifting meaning of ‘sala’ within the show itself: from questions to an invitation to stay and contemplate.
I will give a brief architectural overview of the building and how the Silo District developed unrecognisably over the last decade.
R400 early bird payment, then R600 per person. For a Wednesday morning Museum entry is free for African citizens (please bring proof eg ID or passport), otherwise please pay R250 admission when you arrive or become a member which I thoroughly recommend (R390 or R290 for students and pensioners)
