City walk – open your eyes

December 20 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Get to know Cape Town’s bustling, diverse and dynamic past and present – this walking tour is great if you are new to Cape Town or wish to know it better.

Classic must-sees are mixed with hidden gems. Repurposed historic buildings, architectural landmarks, hidden away art spaces, new developments…we’ll see the good, bad, ugly and beautiful.

I point out places of significance and interest – Castle of Good Hope, District 6, Old Granary (now the Tutu Foundation), Anglican and Catholic Cathedrals, Groote Kerk and slave history monuments in Church Square.

We visit briefly the flower market, old Main Post Office, A4 Foundation and Company’s Garden.

Colonial to contemporary, styles are wide ranging, often side by side – African, British, Dutch, American and even French.

Art is around every corner – some free standing, others on buildings – from new large murals to carvings created a century or so ago. It is easy in a bustling city not to look up and enjoy such detail.

We start at the main entrance to the Castle of Good Hope; a map will be sent beforehand, along with a short visual history of what it all used to look like.

We finish by Greenmarket Square, with the option for keenies to come with me to Heritage Square by the oldest known surviving (and still productive) vine.

Come after breakfast as we won’t stop for refreshments, and wear comfy shoes, for a morning to remember and enjoy.

R260 per person paying pre 10 December, then R350 (the next tour is R400 as prices go up in 2024)

Small group
