Castle of Good Hope History
October 26 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
R400Jeanne Bonnema’s carefully researched and popular tour covers a fascinating and wide range of stories about the Castle – from its creation to secret army activities during WW2, bombing during Apartheid and her own slave ancestry.
We visit places spanning the Dutch East India Company’s grand official buildings and small British military jail to the newish Camissa Museum and justice art installation by Haroon Gunn-Salie.
Jeanne, a qualified tourist guide, has just co-authored a book Kids’ Cape Town Guide Book & Activities, just published by Penguin. She will bring copies to sign and sell at special price for Culture Connectors.
Cost: R400 or R300 if paying before 12 October. Two free places for full time history students and long term unemployed.
You’ll need to pay the Castle’s small admission charge at the start of R50/25 for adults/reduced.
