Art collector and dealer, Penny Dobbie, hosts and cooks a delicious, freshly made feast in her phenomenally beautiful Victorian home where she has lived for approaching 50 years. She continues to develop both the house and garden with her glorious, imitable style and great attention to detail. Artworks fit so seamlessly and tightly it is easy to miss masterpieces. (Our favourites are the painted cupboards, one by South African 20th Century giant, Cecil Skotnes.) We’ll be able to go into all the rooms; even the bathrooms are full of stunning art, craft and design. From her balcony, there is a panoramic view over Cape Town to Table Mountain.
Penny was a cookery writer and had her own catering business, whilst working at the University of Cape Town and having her own ‘home gallery’. Her “by invitation only” weekly blogs are both popular and influential. Her cooking is at sumptuous as her interiors. She uses Ardmore ceramics and other gorgeous serving dishes, while plates are by local potters of note.
Let firstname.lastname@example.org know if you would like to visit, or have a dinner is for eight guests.
