Mount Nelson History Tour

A rare opportunity to hear about how and why this iconic hotel was founded and see behind-the-scenes.

Cape Times shipping columnist and teacher, Brian Ingpen will start with the Union-Castle story, which is inextricably linked to Cape Town’s own history. He’ll then take us around the hotel’s shipping collection.

Gaby Palmer, the Hotel’s PR Manager, will show us memorabilia not on public display and give us a peek behind-the-scenes, including Sir Herbert Baker’s unique laundry chimney.

Afterwards, there is the option for a sit-down lunch in the Lord Nelson, a private dining room.

Culture Connect SA’s founder, Kate Crane Briggs, has curated this event, a first. She will be leading the event. Please contact her to book: 072 377 8014.

Cost: R250 pay pre-Tues (13 Aug); then R350 each. This includes an info pack sent in advance. Add R400 for lunch.

Treat yourself and enjoy the golden age of the ocean liner
