Experience the buzz of painters handing in their “Creative Blocks”, plus mosaic and beading artworks being created in this beautifully converted warehouse, home of the Spier Arts Trust and Academy. Artists from a variety of backgrounds, will be handing in their square canvas artworks (Creative Blocks) and getting feedback from Tamlin Blake, Chief Curator. This happens on the ground floor, where we’ll start with a coffee and introduction to this creative centre and Speir’s art programmes. These range from mid-career South African artists having site specific work in Nando’s around the world to the Spier wine estate near Stellenbosch. We’ll be shown round the three other floors – their fine art mosaic, ceramic and beading workshops, plus teaching spaces. 10am to 12pm. Cost: R200 pre-pay 1 June, R250 pre pay 17 July, then R350, includes coffee and info pack. Optional lunch nearby at the beautiful French Swan Cafe, for delicious crepes/gallettes, at your own expense.
