Inspired by South Africa’s vast beauty, creativity, and cultural diversity, Kate Crane Briggs started Culture Connect SA in 2012.
Kate was selected to be a pioneer Airbnb experience host and a Context Travel art specialist guide when both companies launched in Cape Town, their first African city.
Passionate about art from an early age, Kate studied Art History in the UK first at school (Sherborne) and then the University of East Anglia (BA Hons). For 20 years Kate worked in the London art world. Prior to consulting she was the Executive Director of the Royal Drawing School, Whitechapel Gallery’s Head of Development and National Portrait Gallery’s Fundraising Manager. Kate relocated to Cape Town in 2010 with her South African husband Guy Briggs, a partner of dhk Architects and their two children Anna and Oli.
We are based in Rosebank in Cape Town but also advise on specialists who can lead art experiences in Johannesburg and Pretoria.
INTERNS AND VOLUNTEERS WELCOME
Culture Connect SA has part-time interns who help with research, logistics and marketing; in particular, social media. Volunteers come to events in order to build their network and experience. Please get in touch if you are interested.
FUNDRAISING PROJECTS AND CONSULTANCY
Building on her experience of working in museums, galleries and in education, Kate advises cultural organisations on fundraising. She was a member of the steering committee of Women in Philanthropy South Africa (WiPSA) and an associate of Global Philanthropic.
Culture Connect has supported art outreach at the Butterfly Art Project, ZipZap Circus School and SAEP (South African Education & Environment Project) both work in areas of high poverty locally.
