Led by heritage architect, Prof Andre van Graan, our Art Deco tour focuses on outstanding examples of “moderne” architecture in Cape Town’s centre.  We’ll visit a range of buildings, from Mutual Heights (the tallest building in Africa when it was built, 1939) to Mullers shop which is still an optometrist, its original purpose. Art Deco in its many manifestations, is the main architectural style we’ll be concentrating on.

This walking tour is part of the public events of Open Design festival. Afterwards there will be open architectural studio’s you might like to visit, part of Open Design, independent to this Culture Connect event.
